Simple yet effective; that’s what came to mind when I first heard this track. About a year ago, Remix-Nation did a spotlight piece on the LA native DJ Mackenzie Johnson, better known as MAKJ. His popularity has steadily risen over the years due to his stellar bootlegs, remixes, and mashups. His mashups and bootlegs have been supported by a plethora of big name DJ’s from varying genre. For his latest release Conchy, MAKJ takes a break from his mashup tendencies and presents us with an original track of his. What I love about this track is it’s simplicity. It’s a bouncy tech house track that strikes the perfect balance between being chill and upbeat. The patterns are simple yet concise, and the small group of sounds used allow you to really hear each one as it’s being presented in the track.
